"I believe." These are the two most powerful words that can affect healing. A recent report states that many natural remedies are effective, because of the placebo effect. http://bit.ly/1Lmw9h
No longer can we dismiss the action of remedies as simply "the placebo effect". In fact, this placebo effect is an example of the mind-body effect upon healing. The National institutes of Health Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (http://nccam.nih.gov/) recognizes the mind-body effect as a domain of CAM.
Interestingly, physicians recognize this effect, and a recent survey indicates that over half of physicians employ placebo treatments. http://bit.ly/2JtDZO
The results of the first study to look at the UK diet and depression have been reported. Two groups were defined: (1) those who ate a diet largely based on whole foods, which includes lots of fruit, vegetables and fish; and (2) those who ate a mainly processed food diet, such as sweetened desserts, fried food, processed meat, refined grains and high-fat dairy products.
People with a diet high in processed food had a 58% higher risk of depression than those who ate very few processed foods. Researchers speculate there may be a link with inflammation as with conditions such as heart disease. http://bit.ly/36vCvz
